Edward "Jiggs" Gartley. Born July 4, 1925 in Waukegan and a lifelong resident of the city of Waukegan passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force on July 20, 1946. After he graduated from navigational school in Texas, where he trained new recruits, he then returned to the area and married his love, Agnes Budak on September 4,1948. He worked 38 years at Great Lakes Naval Station until June 30,1985. After his retirement he enjoyed golf, gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 28th, at Peterson & Patch Funeral Home, located at 408 North Sheridan Road, Waukegan, IL 60085. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. to 12:00 noon, with a short service to be held at noon. Internment will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Libertyville Illinois, at Hunt Club Road and Route 120 with military honors. Mr. Gartley is survived by his five children Preston, Patty, Barbara, Kevin (Marsha), and Jeff; his grandchildren Rachel (Sean), Kevin Jr (Lisa),Amanda (Kelley), Beau, Clancy, Bailey, Vinnie, Blair, Sydney, and Jake; his great grandchildren Henry, Rhys , Keri, and his brother Dick. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years; parents Edward and Helen; son-in-law Ray; special friend Florence Jesenovec; and infant great-grandsons Finn and Jack.
