Eleonor L. Montano

Eleonor was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, grew up in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. There she met and married Edwin Montano. She was 21 years old when they moved to Waukegan where she lived for 72 years. She retired from Abbott Laboratories after 35 years as a production supervisor. In 1957 Eleonor and her husband founded the Puerto Rican Society with meetings in their garage. They continue to be active members for most of their lives. She loved to travel and enjoy flowers, word puzzles gardening, and cooking. She was a matriarch in our family and will be missed by so many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin in 1979, her parents Benicia (Servita) and Victor Lopez, her brother Jorge Lopez, her sister Haydee Lopez who passed recently. She is survived by her two sons, Edwin Montano, Jr. (Pamela) and Victor Montano (Louise), four Grandchildren Anykka Montano, Elena Montano, Edwin L Montano (Shannon), Victoria Montano (Dillan), three beautiful great-grandchildren Eliza Montano, Nora Laughlin, Lucas Laughlin and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be 11:00 AM, Monday, March 14, 2022, at Most Blessed Trinity (Holy Family site), 450 Keller Ave. Waukegan. Interment will be Northshore Garden of Memories in North Chicago. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Peterson & Patch Funeral Home Waukegan, Illinois. In lieu of flowers send donations to the Edwin Montano scholarship fund.
