Frank Merlo Obituary (2021)

Frank E. Merlo, 84, of Ocala Florida formerly of Waukegan IL, ended a long and courageous battle with multiple health issues and entered the peace and joy of eternal life on January 17th. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Mary Jane (Hayes) Merlo, of 63 years who he married on May 4, 1957 and proposed to in 2nd grade, 4 children; James, Kathleen (Dave) Oliver, John (Wanda) Merlo, Cindy (Tony) Parrilli, 11 grandchildren; Jimmy, Bobby, Heather, Becky, Julie, David, Ashley, Brad, Gianna, Ava & Anthony, 9 great grandchildren; Michael, Jonathan, Lexie, Kadi, Colten, Cade, E.J., Austin and Rosemary. Sister Margaret Beck, Sister-in-law Sr. Kathleen Hayes and many nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Marie Merlo, his sister Vivian (Merlo) Pearson, and nephew, Jerry Trimble. Frank and his father operated Merlo Shoe Repair in Waukegan for many years. He was a long time parishioner and active member of Immaculate Conception Church and loved his years coaching football there. Upon retiring to Ocala Florida he indulged his life long passion for golf and especially enjoyed taking his grandchildren on golf cart rides. Funeral mass will be 10:00 AM, Friday, June 11, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church 15000 W. Wadsworth Road Wadsworth IL. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to time of mass. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to any Hospice or to the Sinsinawa Dominicans - 585 County Rd. Z, Sinsinawa, WI 53824.
