Marilyn L. Rothenberger

August 16, 1930 - July 6, 2015

Marilyn L. Rothenberger, age 84, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2015 at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion, Illinois, following a brief illness. She was born on August 16, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, the youngest daughter of Arthur Raymond Millberger and Mayme Stoutjesdyk Millberger. She graduated from Harper High School in Chicago and attended North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. She worked for United Airlines in an administrative capacity before marrying George R. Rothenberger in 1963. Marilyn had the gift of creativity and loved making arts and crafts in a variety of mediums. For many years she was an active member of the Lake County Homemaker's Association. She and her husband George were avid sports fans, rooting for the Chicago Cubs, the fighting Illini and Northwestern University football, as well as cheering on the local high school basketball and football teams in Waukegan. She had a gentle, easy-going personality, a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. She loved animals, all things related to Charles Schultz's Peanuts characters, a good picnic and road trips. She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Waukegan, and more recently, an active member of Living Faith United Methodist Church in Waukegan. She is predeceased by her husband, George R. Rothenberger. She is survived by her nieces, Barbara Warthen (Foley, Alabama), Jackie Hatfield (Portland, Oregon), Terri Pendleton (Portland, Oregon) and Sandra Millberger (Springfield, Michigan); nephews, Douglas Stone (Savannah, Georgia) and Neil Millburger (Portland, Oregon); and six great-nieces, two great- nephews and two great-grandnephews. There will be a time of prayer and remembrance in celebration of Marilyn's life at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, July 11 at Living Faith United Methodist Church, 414 N. McAree Road in Waukegan. The family is planning a celebration of her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of PETERSON & PATCH FUNERAL HOME 408 N. Sheridan Rd. Waukegan, Illinois. Please sign our online guestbook at www.petersonpatchfuneralhome.com.
