William David KIass Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

William David “Billy” Klass, 80 (but if you asked him he was always 19), of Waukegan, IL passed away peacefully at home on December 1, 2020. Billy was born on January 12, 1940 to Albert and Mae (Niemi) Klass. Billy was born with Special Needs but never let his disability slow him down. He lived a rich and wonderful life that many would only dream of. Billy was an avid train and construction equipment enthusiast and loved going on train trips with family and supervising local construction projects. He also loved an occasional side trip to the casino to gamble. He found joy and socialization in his job at the Lambs Farm Vocational Center up until his retirement in March of 2020. He was a member of the Waukegan Historical Society and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Waukegan where he loved to go for prayers and his Sunday morning coffee. Billy is survived by his Sister, Sara Griffin, Niece, Teresa (Marc) Hansen, Nephews, David Griffin and Daniel (Ellen) Griffin. Great Nephews, Matthew (Ashley) Hansen, Jacob Hansen and John Paul “Jack” Griffin. Great Nieces, Caitlin Griffin and Claire Griffin. He is also survived by his “California” Cousins, his “Arizona” Cousins and his “Michigan” Cousins, all who had a special place in his heart. He also leaves to cherish the memories of all of the co-workers, friends and supervisors that came into his life at Lambs Vocational Center throughout his years of employment. His was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Mae Klass and his Brother-In-Law Walter Griffin. Billy also will join a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends as they continue the very large and spirited game of Pinochle. His memory was amazing and never forgot any of the important people and amazing friends that crossed his path in his lifetime or the mischief that they may have caused. Throughout his amazing life he taught us all patience and how to live each day to the fullest and with love and understanding towards each other no matter what the challenges in life would bring. We will miss his joyous cackle belly laugh and his love for telling stories. Anyone who knew Billy and touched his life can rest easy knowing that they had someone in their life that loved them unconditionally. All-Aboard that west bound train, God Bless you Billy. Given ongoing public health concerns, the family will hold private services. A celebration of life will be planned for Family and Friends at a later date.
