Jane A. Kennedy Obituary (1950 - 2025)

Jane A. Kennedy, age 74, of Wadsworth, IL, passed away on March 29, 2025 at Condell Hospital in Libertyville, IL. She died due to multiple injuries sustained during an automobile accident. She was born on April 25, 1950, in Niles, MI to John & Wyetta Mosey. Jane was a beloved wife, stepmother, Grammy, doggy-mom, sister, niece, and friend. Jane graduated from Grand Valley State College with a dual degree in History and French. She was a consummate professional and worked as a VP of Distribution for Charles A. Stevens and as a General Manager for Host Marriott for a combined 12 years and was revered by her teams. She also worked as a private retail management consultant in Hong Kong for several years. Jane would rival the top “Doggy Moms” in history. She was interested in all sorts of dogs and always kept a few treats in her purse for any furry friends she might come across. She was a proud dog mom to Shooter, Erika, Nikki, Puppy, Sam, Chica, Ellie, and, currently Harley Kennedy. She loved sailing with her husband Dick, and most enjoyed the Caribbean & San Juan Islands. She had a quick wit and appreciated well placed zingers and a hearty laugh as much as anyone. Jane was loving and kind to all those she met, quick to offer a genuine and compassionate smile. She never met a stranger, only a future friend! Jane was also a voracious reader, consuming over 100 books per year, and attended readings and signings with many of her favorite authors. Jane was an active member of WBEZ radio in Chicago and enjoyed reading the New York Times and playing the daily Wordle puzzle. She also enjoyed playing cards (Push Rummy & Cribbage were favorites) as well as other board games. Jane adored her family and was interested in keeping the peace amongst those she loved most. She rarely complained and always saw the good in people. You would be hard pressed to find anyone in history with more grace and patience than Jane Kennedy. Jane is survived by her husband Richard M. Kennedy, children Richard (Elizabeth) Kennedy and Nora (Jason Workman) Kennedy, grandchildren Liam and Genevieve Workman, Bobby, Vivian and June Kennedy, sister Jill (Jeff) Palmby, and brother Mike (Mary) Mosey, Aunt Ann Dondanville, sisters-in-law Kaye (Frank) Brisbois, Maureen (Joe) Sivia and Margaret Graf as well as numerous nieces, nephews and neighborhood friends. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, John and Wyetta Mosey. Per her wishes, Jane will be cremated, and there will be no wake or funeral. At some point in the future, there will be an intimate celebration of life, with close family and friends, “when the weather is nice, and people can wear shorts”.
